Flags went up early Monday as the Island joined the rest of the country in celebrating Memorial Day.
A parade begins at 10:30 a.m. at the American Legion Hall in Vineyard Haven, ending at the Oak Grove Cemetery. By long tradition, volunteers put up flags at the Avenue of Flags in the Oak Grove Cemetery early Monday. The flags will come down at 3 p.m.
The annual Tisbury Town Picnic will be held from noon to 4 p.m. at the Tashmoo Spring Building in Vineyard Haven. All are welcome to bring a picnic (no dogs please). Grills, music and ice cream will be provided by the town.
The weather forecast calls for drizzly, cool weather to give way to sunshine by afternoon.

Too Bad the West Tisbury town
Richard Hurts Shame Ave, WTToo Bad the West Tisbury town officials could not come in to work for 5 minutes(on a day they are being paid) to honor America and her protectors and fly the flag over the Town Hall....SAD
It shows the distain they have for America/Military. Sure they claim to show support.
