The problem-plagued ferry Martha's Vineyard was returned again to service Thursday morning, as Steamship Authority officials pieced together a plan to get travelers to and from the Vineyard for the upcoming holiday weekend.
In a morning press release, the Steamship Authority said the U.S. Coast Guard had cleared the vessel for sailing after inspecting repairs and taking it on sea trials. The release said the Martha's Vineyard would resume its regular published schedule beginning with the 7 a.m. boat Thursday. The ferry Woods Hole remains out of service.
Standby traffic, suspended earlier in the week, has resumed at Vineyard Haven and Woods Hole.
The Whaling City Express, a high-speed passenger-only ferry operated by SeaStreak, will continue to carry passengers through Monday, April 2nd. It will run from Vineyard Haven to Woods Hole on the hour from 6:00 a.m. through 10:00 p.m., and from Woods Hole on the half-hour from 6:30 a.m. through 9:30 p.m. each day.
