I read of the death of Father Herman Page recently in your paper. I had the honor of working with Herman on his 2009 book Rails Across Martha’s Vineyard: Steam Narrow Gauge and Trolley Lines, using my historic photo collection and gaining access to other collections on the Island as well as drawing a system map of the trolleys. There was no mention of his book in the obituary and I thought it strange as it is likely his most lasting legacy to the Island he loved.

Dear Doug,
Elizabeth Page Diehl Kansas/Vineyard HavenDear Doug,
Dad's death came a little sooner than we expected. We did have mention of his book in a longer version of his obituary. It was not our intention to omit it in the Vineyard version of the obit. Our family is so proud of all Dad's hard work on his book. We thank you for your part in helping him write it. Understand that when a loved one dies, life is turned upside down in all the preparations for his funeral. Again, thank you!! The Page Family
