The first day of spring ended with winter weather on Martha’s Vineyard, with a snowstorm predicted to move through the Island from late Sunday night into Monday morning.

The National Weather service has issued a winter storm warning for the Island through Monday at 11 a.m. Forecasting for the storm was uncertain and changed throughout the weekend, as the storm’s track shifted slightly to the east.
Public schools announced a two-hour delayed opening early Monday. The YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard announced Sunday night that it would open late Monday, at 8 a.m., and further delays were possible.
The Vineyard Transit Authority said Sunday that bus schedules could also be affected by the snow.
Islanders awoke Monday to a thin white blanket of snow and the sound of plows scraping down roads.
Whatever snow does accumulate should disappear quickly. A high temperature of 51 degrees is in the forecast for Wednesday.
