I beg to differ with Woody Williams, who wrote disparagingly of your gardening columnist, Lynne Irons, who, in his opinion, has the effrontery to include her political feelings in her column.
For one thing, her political opinions are hardly “radical.” I’d say, rather, that it is Mr. Williams who is “spewing political hate.”
It’s a sad commentary on the current state of our country when differences of opinion lead one person to call the other’s opinion “totally whacked out.”
Why Mr. Williams even takes Ms. Irons so seriously is a bit beyond my understanding. Her column is both informative about gardening as well as whimsical, entertaining, and a mite eccentric, obviously not to be viewed as an op-ed. She’s been writing her column for a long time; I imagine she has many fans (including me). Evidently the powers that be at the Gazette countenance her self-expression, or they would have censored her before this.

In our humble opinions Mr
Jason & Marion Vineyad NativesIn our humble opinions Mr Williams was right on the money mr. Steve Auerbach and we could not have said it better ourselves. My wife and I actually cheered when we read his letter last week and was wondering who might rebut it.
If you slow down and re-read his letter he basically had issues with where she expressed her political views rather than the usual places such as where you have. She had chosen to close her Vineyard Gardener column to express her disgust for Sara Palin, Donald Trump who we totally support and expressed her abiding love for Obama who we actually despise.
Being a old veteran myself as are two of our sons one is on active duty as we speak Sarah Palin and Mr Trump have more respect for veterans in their baby fingers than Obama has in his entire being and he is their commander in chief and the one who disrespects the men who sadly serve under him.
Respectfully stick to your crossword puzzles sir.
Lynne Irons does not spew
nancy morris naples, fl.Lynne Irons does not spew political hatred...Donald Trump does with every bone of his being. I pray he never gets the chance to represent our America as president. Write on (right on) Lynne!
I totally disagree with Woody
Liz Thompson Putnam, CTI totally disagree with Woody Williams. Lynne Irons column is my favorite. I save it to read last and enjoy like a morsel of exquisite chocolate after a satisfying meal. And why must Mr. Williams resort to name calling? It sounds an awful lot like "he whom I will not name" taking up so much of our time in this year of politics. Thank you to the Vineyard Gazette for encouraging freedom of expression without trying to categorize it under proscribed headings. Please keep the columns coming, Lynne. You have an appreciative audience.
