Almost a week into 2016, the first baby of the new year was born at the Martha's Vineyard Hospital.

Orion Grace Newton Thibodeau arrived at 1:09 p.m. on Jan. 7. Her parents are Maria and Janet Newton Thibodeau of Edgartown.

Orion weighed 8 pounds, 1 ounce and was 21 inches long at birth.
