Faulkner Workshop

<p>The Vineyard Haven Library is hosting a six-week workshop on William Faulkner entitled Discovering Faulkner&rsquo;s Fiction. Aquinnah summer resident and professor of literature at Swarthmore College, Philip Weinstein will lead the workshop. The first class is on Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. at the library. Subsequent classes will held on Oct. 22, Nov. 5, Nov. 19, Dec. 3 and Dec. 10.</p>

Aquinnah summer resident and professor of literature at Swarthmore College, Philip Weinstein will lead the workshop. The first class is on Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. at the library. Subsequent classes will held on Oct. 22, Nov. 5, Nov. 19, Dec. 3 and Dec. 10.

Mr. Weinstein will focus on three novels: As I Lay Dying, The Sound and the Fury and Light in August, which are available through the library or at the Bunch of Grapes Bookstore on Main street in Vineyard Haven. Mr. Weinstein is a lifetime student and teacher of Mr. Faulkner’s work. He will provide background information and teaching sheets to go along with the workshop.

As I former student, I can say that Phil is a once-in-a-generation teacher of literature. Anyone who loves to read, or just to explore questions about being human or the craft of writing, should be sure to attend.
