An Island man was arraigned Sept. 6 in Edgartown District Court on several charges, including rape of a child.
Andrew R. Bradshaw, 49, was arrested Sept. 5 and charged with rape of a child with force, open and gross lewdness and two counts of enticing a child under 16 in two separate cases dating to June and September 2012. The incidents allegedly happened in Tisbury, where Mr. Bradshaw has a home. His current listed address is in Edgartown.
The alleged victims in the cases are two girls aged 11 and 12 who are known to Mr. Bradshaw, according to police reports filed in court. He allegedly sexually assaulted the girls, offered them money for a sexual act and exposed his genitalia, according to the police.
The alleged victims told police that other assaults also took place in New Hampshire and Florida. The police report said that Tisbury officers have contacted police in those states about those incidents. The assaults allegedly last took place in April, according to the police reports.
Attorney Paul Seaver, who is representing Mr. Bradshaw, declined to comment.
Bail was set at $5,000 in each of the two cases. Pretrial hearing were scheduled for Sept. 26.

We as an island are seeing
concernedWe as an island are seeing far too many of these cases lately. Guilty or not, too many cases. It saddens me to think what these two children have been though.
As a survivor I know how it
SurvivorAs a survivor I know how it feels to lose the innocence of your childhood. They will need all the prayers and support from our community. It will be a long and difficult road ahead for the family.
