Wilfred Huntington Art
The West Tisbury Library will be having an exhibition spanning the month of March of Island artist Wilfrid, Willie, Huntington.
Willie’s career started in the 1920’s and his work spanned six decades and included drawings, lithographs, illustrations, dry points, etchings, oils and watercolors.
The work shown at the library is a sample of his drawings and prints, including his final dry point, Chickadees and Holly.
What is the sound of one mime laughing? This question and more will be answered on Thursday, Feb. 23, at the Vineyard Haven Public Library when the comic mime, Robert Rivest, brings his show Literacy Alive to the Island. Showtime is from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m.
Seniors Get Cooking
Researchers from Simmons College will hold workshops on innovative nutrition education programs for seniors Feb. 10 and 17 at 10 a.m. The program, Eating Well on a Tight Budget, looks to inspire a renewed interest in food selection with an emphasis on healthy economical choices. The cooking demonstration is free and includes hands-on participation by the people 55 or older.
Workshops will be held in the Woodside Village community room. Sign-up is preferred; for more information call 508-591-5282, [email protected].
Foods of Italy
February blues have you down? Skies gray, food choices minimal, and it’s still weeks away from school break and a potential vacation? How about a gastronomical trip to Italy via the Edgartown Library Foundation?
On Friday, Feb. 10, from 5 to 8 p.m. the library is hosting a tour of Italy with a wine and cheese bonanza. The food tour to benefit the library takes place at Lattanzi’s Restaurant in Old Post Office Square in Edgartown.
Artisan Festival Talk
Ever wonder how the Artisans Festival began, what they were like in the early days, and even, perhaps, where they are headed? Well, on Sunday, Feb. 5 at 2 p.m., Andrea Rogers, the maestro behind what has become a Vineyard institution (and an impressive broom maker too) is giving a talk at the Vineyard Haven Public Library.
The library knows how to treat its visitors too; refreshments will be served following the talk.
