Do you remember when snowy owls were rare winter visitors?
Great egrets seem to be spread across the Vineyard, as they can regularly be found feeding in shallow water and salt marshes across the Island.
At least one brown pelican was spotted on May 28. Maybe more than one is present.
On May 20, I visited the Pumping Station and migratory birds were plentiful.
We found 114 species during the annual Felix Neck Bird-a-thon, which was held over a 24-hour period.
From late April to mid-May we expect brightly colored songbirds to predominate the sightings.
