On Wednesday, August 14, at 7 p.m. two female pilots with the Israeli Defense Force will share their experiences at the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center. Each woman will talk about her personal story, participating in what was for many years a male-only field.
Tonight the drums will beat in Union Chapel in Oak Bluffs — calling all dancers and lovers of dance to the 17th annual Built on Stilts festival.
Built on Stilts is a celebration of dance in all its forms. It runs from August 8 to 11 and again from August 17 to 20, and every night is free.
On Thursday, August 15, the corn dogs come to town. So does the Ferris wheel, Robinson’s racing pigs, goat and swine exhibits, woodsmen’s competition, chop stick knitting contest, the list just keeps going on and on as the 152nd Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Livestock Show and Fair begins.
Curators and the simply curious will enjoy the annual Arts District Stroll in Oak Bluffs tomorrow, August 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. All along Dukes County avenue, galleries will open their doors to visitors and offer a look at new work while providing refreshments and entertainment. Each gallery will serve up its own welcome.
Family Dance-O-Bama, a special edition all-ages disco party at 4 to 6 p.m. at Flatbread Company next to the airport in Edgartown. Free admission.
