When the new season of Hell’s Kitchen: Battle Of The States premieres next week, a Vineyard chef will be among the competitors looking to make his mark.

The Yard is dimming its lights for a year-long pause to rethink their programming and financial model to ensure sustainability.

After 14 years of nightly dinners at the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Oak Bluffs, Chef Deon’s Kitchen will close for good later this month, serving its final meals on Sept. 21.

Former Massachusetts secretary of state and longtime seasonal Island visitor Michael Connolly will screen his new feature film, Unfinished Business, at Edgartown Cinemas on Tuesday, Sept. 16. at 7 p.m.

The four-day festival runs from Thursday, Sept. 18 to Sunday, Sept. 21 at various venues around the Island.

Bubbles and excitement flowed at the Martha’s Vineyard International Film Festival opening reception Thursday evening. Screenings continue through Sunday Sept. 7 at the Film Center in Vineyard Haven.
