Tonight at 10 p.m. the Discovery Channel premieres a new series called Big Giant Swords. The reality show features the Vineyard's Michael Craughwell, who creates swords of up to six feet long and weighing 80 pounds.

Saturday was the last night at the Ocean View for the ownership of Ron and Peggy Jackson who have owned the popular bar and restaurant for 36 years. The place was packed, as always, this time with friends, family and former employees.
Flatbread, the popular wood-fired pizza franchise near the Martha’s Vineyard Airport that has hosted fundraisers, family dance parties and concerts, will not reopen this summer, owner Jay Gould has confirmed.
“The season is too short for us. We do very well in July and August, but it’s not enough,” Mr. Gould told the Gazette in an email early Tuesday.
