This past weekend the Squirts took center stage at the 24th Annual Ryan Mone Memorial Tournament. It was three days filled with early wake-up calls and late night play (for players and parents).
This weekend, at the annual alumni hockey games, it was once again time for the old (and not so old) guard to dust off their skates and once again hit the ice at the Martha's Vineyard Arena.
After a shaky start against Sandwich last week, the boys’ varsity basketball team picked up a decisive 69-41 victory over visiting Dennis-Yarmouth Tuesday evening in their home opener.
In preseason scrimmages both home and away, the boys' and girls' hockey squads have been skating well. The puck drops for the boys' first home game on Saturday. The girls will not play at home until January.
The fall youth hockey season reached its midpoint earlier this month.
Last weekend, the Travel Mites took on Dennis-Yarmouth in what head coach James McKeon described as a total team effort of unselfish hockey. Led by Nick BenDavid, Parker Blake, Maks Pacheco and Micah Simmons, the Mites scored 21 goals to Falmouth’s four. Paige Anderson, Chase Grant, Ingrid Gundersen and Vinnie Paciello all scored as well
The Squirts 2 team fell 2-1 on Saturday to a tough Attleborough North Devils team, with Riley Sylvia holding down the fort in net.
