Richard Dormitzer, 85
Richard Dormitzer, of New Bedford, died on Sunday, July 6. He was 85.
Born in Arlington, son of the late Herbert Spencer Dormitzer and Marguerite Dormitzer, he lived in Milford and Holliston most of his life before moving to Martha’s Vineyard.
Richard was the owner of Free Wheeling Picture Framing in Edgartown. Prior to that he worked in sales for many years. He earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Northeastern University.
Richard enjoyed cars, golfing and skiing. He participated in many Masonic activities in the Milford area.
He is survived by his sons: Spencer Dormitzer and his wife Kendall Black of Washington, DC, and Jason Perez-Dormitzer and his wife Marissa of Mattapoisett; his brother Peter Dormitzer; his former spouse Deborah Bergstrom; his step-children, Tony and Brian Fernandes; and his grandchildren, Odin, Jackson, Spencer, Ethan, Isabella and Benjamin.
He is predeceased by his sister Elizabeth A. (Betsy) Jones.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Inn on Shipyard Park, 13 Water St, Mattapoisett, MA 02739. All are welcome to celebrate the life of Mr. Dormitzer, but for the family’s convenience please RSVP to [email protected].
