Margaret (Meg) Dykes Whitehouse, 68
Margaret (Meg) Dykes Whitehouse died in Dec. 9, 2025 in her Chilmark home. She was 68.
Born in Mount Kisco, N.Y. on Sept. 9, 1957, Meg brought passion, joy and warmth to every part of her life — qualities that endured even as she faced the degenerative neurological disease that ultimately ended her life.
An interior designer by trade, she poured her creativity into her work and formed lasting relationships through it. Her artistic roots trace back to her days at Rhode Island School of Design, where she earned her bachelor of fine arts in industrial design in 1980.
Over the years she became deeply connected to communities across southern New Hampshire and Martha’s Vineyard, places where her generosity and humor were instantly recognizable. Always active, she loved walking, playing tennis and skiing. She found a particular sense of comfort in reading and gathering with community members at the First Congregational Church of West Tisbury.
She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Philip (Phil) F. Curtin of Chilmark; her daughter, Abigail (Abbey) W. Curtin of Boston; her son, Maxwell (Max) W. Curtin of Chicago; her brother, Harold (Hal) J. Whitehouse of Holden; and her sister, Dorothy (Dari) S. Whitehouse Hathorne and her brother-in-law, Edward (Shred) L. Hathorne of Carolina Shores, N.C.
A celebration of Meg’s life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 1 pm at the First Congregational Church of West Tisbury.
