A celebration of life for David Ellis Gaskill will be held on July 19, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Tashmoo Springs Building in Tisbury.

David died unexpectedly from a heart attack on June 4, 2024, at the age of 71.

He was born January 10, 1953, to the late Frederick Gaskill and Christine Luce Gaskill. A lifelong Islander, he found his greatest joy in a good book, solving challenging mechanical problems and watching those he loved succeed.

Though he shied away from the spotlight, his steady presence was a source of deep strength and comfort to his family and friends.

His legacy of integrity, loyalty, hard work, and quiet love lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

David was pre-deceased by his parents and his older sister, Susan.

He is survived by his four children: Daniel Gaskill (Rita), Maria Allen (Michael), Glen Gaskill, and John Gaskill (Caetlyn); by his seven grandchildren: David, Morgan, Michael, Genevieve, Ryan, Kaiya, and Ellis; and by his brother-in-law, Jerry Kleiman.
