Vineyard Haven Town Column: Week Ending Jan. 2

I refuse to make the usual unkempt New Year’s resolutions of losing weight and exercising more. I am running out of time.

I refuse to make the usual unkempt New Year’s resolutions of losing weight and exercising more. I am running out of time. This is what I resolve to work on: world peace, universal healthcare for all, and a warm and loving home for every pet and person. Will you join me?

The week we have just almost completed is a liminal week. That means you are free to wear pajamas all week, not venture out, shuffle in your slippers from room to room, read and watch television. I adore liminal weeks. And my dogs do, too.

I had the pleasure of meeting Teri Hayes from Plymouth this past weekend. She is an amazing artist in the realm of drawing and sewing. Sewing doesn’t seem an extravagant enough description of her talent.

I complimented Kirk Metell last week on what I fine job his team did in clearing our town’s streets of snow. Kirk kindly answered me and said, yes, he was shoveling snow but in upstate New York for his in-laws. He gave me the names of his team here. They are plowers Richard Wind and Ken and Marie Maciel. Remember to thank them.

How about our Patriots? A great win over the Jets. Last time I backed the Jets, Joe Namath was leading the team. He also was hanging out in my neighborhood on the Upper west Side. He was very friendly. We called him Broadway Joe as he frequently visited the neighborhood bars on that street. But now my new love is Drake Maye.

The birthday bandwagon pulled along Len Morris and Toby Danger Riseborough. Many happy returns. Happy New Year to all of you.
