Edgartown Town Column: Week Ending Dec. 19
“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!”
“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!”
I know there are always mixed feelings about snow but it does put you in the mood for the holidays. It may not last until Christmas day, but at least we had a tease.
Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons to out to Bella Silva and Valentina, who celebrated Dec. 13; Malakai Foster, Dec. 15; Lochlan Pearl, Cooper Avakian, Asaph Braz, Kinzie Phillips and Mirella De Lima on Dec. 19.
The Evening of Enchantment at Donaroma’s was a great success. After months of preparation and many, many cases of lights, and months of wrapping almost everything that stood still, we can honestly call it a success. This year’s theme was Northern Lights, and the goal, as per usual, was to create a lot happy faces and there were plenty. In addition to the Nordic theme, there were elves on the shelves, both inside and out, that the children enjoying trying to find.
You can still roam the nursery, enjoying the lights and Christmas music with your radio turned to 87.9 a.m. Enjoy.
My friends Rob and Carrie Stanley and Joe and Michelle Calabrese were here for Christmas in Edgartown. I had the weekend off for the first time in quite a while and had time to spend with them and also enjoy the festivities downtown.
The parade has grown and there were a lot of people on the parade route and all around town. I was happy for all the craft fairs and for the food areas.
We did our fair share of shopping. We escaped up to Menemsha and we enjoyed Stanley Larsen’s lobster bisque, which Michele said was the best she has ever had. We chuckled because they are from the city and Menemsha had probably six cars in the parking lot. I said it was a busy day. But kidding set aside, Larsen’s was busy with lunch business. So, if you want to get out this winter, a ride to Menemsha and lunch at Larsen’s is a nice treat and adventure.
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas. Please remember those who are less fortunate than us. May we have a safe holiday season.
Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
