Here’s a thought. Even though the idea of needing to have your driveway plowed after a snow storm seems unlikely at the moment, once the snow starts to fly, it may be too late to get somebody to do it. If you have had a snowplow person in the past, I suggest that you get in touch with them now. If you don’t have a snowplow person yet, how about getting a conversation going on Chappy Chat about who is equipped to plow snow? I have heard people say that their homeowners insurance requires that the fire department and fuel trucks have access to the house at all times.

Did you know that Santa rides the Chappy Ferry to make his grand entrance to the Vineyard? On Friday, Dec. 12 at around 5:15 p.m. he will make the trip with Mrs. Claus over to town to join the festivities on Memorial Wharf followed by the lighting of the Edgartown Lighthouse.

The Edgartown Village Market, which is the creation of Chappaquiddickers, is doing a holiday faire on Saturday, Dec. 13 in the Edgartown village green. It will start immediately after the parade (about 11 a.m.) and go until 4 p.m. Featured will be 30 local artists and food, beer and champagne vendors and live music. Food will include smash burgers, egg nog milkshakes, mac and cheese, chili, chowder, crepes, hot dogs and seasonal treats.
