Bell Ringing to Honor Legacy of Rosa Parks

Various Island churches and organizations will take part in a nationwide bell ringing event today, Dec. 1, to mark the 70th anniversary of Rosa Parks’ arrest.

Various Island churches and organizations will take part in a nationwide bell ringing event today, Dec. 1, to mark the 70th anniversary of Rosa Parks’ arrest.

Ms. Park was arrested at 6:06 p.m. on Dec. 1, 1955 in Montgomery, Alabama, which trigged the start of the Montgomery Bus Boycott.

Alabama is on central time so the Island bells will ring at 7:06 p.m. today.
