Mr. Silver Sox.

Please Adopt Us: Week Ending Oct. 31

We are delighted to report that Micki, the 14 year-old, gray and white cat who was depressed has found her new home! We couldn’t be happier for her.

Our pet of the week is Silver Sox, a two-year-old medium-haired, gray and white male. If you’re looking for an active cat, Silver Sox is your boy. This cat is so nice, friendly and playful that the staff is calling him Mr. Entertainment, and he will keep you entertained all day. Come meet him and see if he charms you as well.

We have a few other cats in need of homes. Exso is a one- to two-year-old tuxedo that could not be sweeter. And her kitten Fugee, a five-month-old, male tuxedo is also looking for a home. These two are quite bonded and we love to see them go to a home together.

Cricket, a six-year-old, tabby and white female is indoor/outdoor. She is currently on a special diet due to her plumpness, which will need to be continued until she returns to her optimum weight.

And last, but not least, is Hickory, a four-year-old, gray and white male who is an indoor/outdoor cat. Hickory has had a chronic UTI problem and is on a special diet that may need to be continued but seems to be improving during his time with us.

Mark your calendars, the shelter will be having a yard sale this Sunday, Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. The location will be at the mini mall on Main street in Edgartown. There will be lots of goodies to be had, so some come down and join us to see what treasures you can find. Your support will help to fund medical care for our residents.

The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is here for our community. We’re always available and our door is always open should your adoption not be a perfect fit. Also, if anyone is in need of cat food, dog food, or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours: 508-627-8662.

Hours are: Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thursday; 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 to 5 p.m.
