Former USAID Director to Speak at Stillpoint

Nathaniel Scott worked for USAID for 16 years before it was largely taken over by the U.S. State Department earlier this year and had much of its programming shut down.

A former U.S, Agency for International Development (USAID) worker will be giving a free talk about his career at the organization at Stillpoint in West Tisbury next week.

Nathaniel Scott worked for USAID for 16 years before it was largely taken over by the U.S. State Department earlier this year and had much of its programming shut down. Mr. Scott served as deputy director of rural and economic development and supported farmers, ecosystems and entire communities across Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. His talk will offer reflections on his experiences at USAID, as well as his analysis of how USAID’s dismantlement could affect international development and American democracy.

“An Evening with Nathaniel Scott” takes place on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. at 20 Stillpoint Meadows Road in West Tisbury. Attendees can RSVP for free on Stillpoint’s website.
