The second annual Burgers and Bubbles competition, hosted by Vintage MV Wine & Spirits, will take place on the lower lawn of the Daniel Fisher House in Edgartown from 12:30 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 31. Proceeds from a silent auction will benefit Vineyard Preservation Trust.

Local chefs will compete against one another to create their best burger recipe, with attendees and Island foodies acting as judges. But the friendly competition is mainly a chance for locals to come together and enjoy good food for a good cause, according to Alex Stone, Vintage MV Wine & Spirits event coordinator and store manager.

“We decided to do a silent auction to combine the concept where it brings the community together in a very open public space but also brings awareness to the community and gives back,” she said.

Vintage MV Wine & Spirits has partnered with the Vineyard Preservation Trust on numerous events and so hosting a fundraiser made perfect sense.

“It’s important for them to be the beneficiaries for this because they do help preserve the Island for us,” Ms. Stone said. “We rely heavily on tourism. All of these older buildings and houses and roads and landscaping, I feel like they... preserve the Island, keeping it as nice and neat as we can.”

The event will also showcase Island chefs.

“All these chefs were like, I want to cook, so we decided to make it beneficial to bring awareness to all these restaurants,” Ms. Stone said

“It’s really special that we live in such a place that’s so involved and people want to help,” she added.
