The weather always gets cooler just before the Agricultural Fair. This week is no exception.

This is the last Saturday of the Fabulists at the Tisbury Amphitheater. Make your plans now.

The historic Stone Bank building on our Main street is about to become a restaurant for your dining pleasure. The Ocean Club will open there soon.

Livingston Taylor gave a fabulous concert at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Center. He was so warm and engaging.

Allen and Eileen Bemus welcomed back their daughter Meredith on Tuesday. Meredith has recently taken a job as a chiropractor in Maryland. New to the area, she did not know anyone yet who could take her cat Rico in while she returned here for four days. So Rico had his first-ever plane ride as they traveled here. Meredith is spending an action-packed hurrah to summer with Illumination Night, the Fair, the Oak Bluffs fireworks (rescheduled to Saturday night) — our usual August send-off to the high season. Her brother Wesley is happily working with boats in Larchmont, N.Y. Wesley never met a boat he didn’t love.

The birthday bandwagon pulled along Brooke Aubin and Kate Taylor on August 15. Sarah Murphy and Elaine Allen shared August 17. And on August 18 Melissa Corr-Dolby and Sherryl Schrader took the cake. Many happy returns.
