A most excellent judgement on the annual Creative Living Award — Rev. Cathlin Baker and Bill Eville are the recipients this year. Cathlin is the first female minister at the Congregational church of West Tisbury. Bill is a writer and the editor right here at the Gazette. Congratulations.

The celebration of the Feast of the Holy Ghost begins this Saturday in Oak Bluffs, with music, dancing, kids games and a barbecue at 5 p.m. The celebration continues on Sunday July 20 with the parade, which begins at 11:30 a.m. at the SSA terminal. Folklore dancers and the Bayside Marching Band will lead us back to the P.A. Club.

Meanwhile, Mo’s great meals at the P.A. Club will take a small break from serving. Mo’s will be closed through August 4, but will be back to serve you on Tuesday August 5.

As per usual the Martha’s Vineyard Museum is right in step. Margot Datz has collected many of her whimsical paintings and there will be an exhibit which opens at the museum from Friday July 18. There is a reception is 5 p.m. on that day

If you have ever been interested in the architectural design of Oak Bluffs, Doug Thompson is offering a talk at the museum on July 24. Doug will discuss the Campgrounds and the Copeland district.

The birthday bandwagon pulled along Paul Karasik on July 13. Bill McGrath and Mikey Waters partied on July 14. Chris Clark takes July 17. Susan Shea celebrates on July 20. And on July 24, Librada Clark takes the cake. Many happy returns.
