A Barnstable County Superior Court grand jury indicted Patrick Doran, of Hyannis, on June 27, after an investigation by Barnstable police and law enforcement officers in Wisconsin found nearly 1,200 files of child sexual abuse material, district attorney Robert Galibois announced on Monday.
Barnstable police were contacted by members of Pleasant Prairie police department in Wisconsin after the midwest officers suspected Mr. Doran had been soliciting and distributing explicit materials with a 14-year-old girl in Wisconsin, according to a statement from the district attorney.
Mr. Doran was allegedly posing as a 15-year-old boy during the interaction, and law enforcement officers executed a search warrant on his home in Hyannis. After he was taken into custody on an arrest warrant from Kenosha County, Wisconsin, Mr. Doran’s electronics were taken and police found many photographs and materials had been sent to the Wisconsin teenager, according to the statement.
During the time of the allegations, the district attorney’s office said Mr. Doran worked as a deputy in the Island sheriff’s department.
Dukes County Sheriff Robert Ogden confirmed that Mr. Doran had worked for the department for more than a year, but hadn’t been employed by the sheriff’s office for several months prior to the indictment.
Sheriff Ogden declined to comment further Monday.
Mr. Doran was arraigned in Barnstable County Superior Court Monday and was ordered held on $5,000 cash bail. His next court date is July 17, according to the district attorney’s office.
