Reality Show Set to Film in Edgartown

The Edgartown select board voted Nov. 25 to approve a filming permit for the unnamed show. The shoot is expected to take place from Dec. 6-8.

A new reality TV show that peeks into the lives of a prominent Boston-based friend group will be filming in Edgartown later this week.

The Edgartown select board voted Nov. 25 to approve a filming permit for the unnamed show. The shoot is expected to take place from Dec. 6-8.

Joseph Azarian, an executive producer at Next Entertainment Television LLC, said he was not permitted to share the name of the reality show, where the show will air, nor the names of the participants.

The application with the town did not include further details.

“They’re basically a group of really ambitious 30 somethings,” Mr. Azarian said in an interview with the Gazette after the vote. “They’re living in Boston, living that glamorous, awesome life. They’ve made a name for themselves in the worlds of fashion, lifestyle and also just regular old business.”

Mr. Azarian said the show is unscripted and the crew plans to follow the friend group with hand-held cameras as they mosey throughout the town on a weekend getaway trip.

“The group is going on a weekend getaway, and we thought Edgartown would be a super fun place to do that, to kind of celebrate the holidays…” Mr. Azarian said. “We’re definitely going to be checking out a lot of different places that are super Martha’s Vineyard – we really want to show off the Island.”

Next Entertainment Television LLC is a new Boston-based production company. Its other reality show, This Is Family, has three seasons on Amazon Prime Video, and followed Mr. Azarian’s family.

Just sounds like summer on MV in recent years.

Don't judge a book by its cover. This sounds like good intellectual stuff rather than the run of the mill NJ Housewives spending ridiculous amounts of money on plastic surgery and fighting with each other. Let's give it a look before we dismiss it.

I know people in Jaws, this is not "Jaws"! Pre-Internet and no need for reality programming! I hope in 50 years this "program" will have you sit, watch, rinse, repeat, and share with your grandchildren. "Toilet paper programs", I hope they don't fit this bucket. Good luck!

As a visitor to The Island over the last 45 years, where I vacationed there every summer for 30 of those years, it has become a special place for my whole family, including extended family. So many special memories, including my daughter‘s wedding.

It will always be a special place to me, but I believe the last thing it needs is more exposure. Gone are the days when celebrities roamed the island unnoticed and people just simply gave them space. It was a place they could go to be themselves.

I don’t think the town should approve filming without know more details about the production. The select board should seek to preserve the image of our town and certain types of shows could tarnish our well earned reputation. One can only assume that if the applicant would not disclose more details the show isn’t that positive.

I agree 100%. This is a special town, a special Island. Lets us protect our privacy as much as we can, especially off season. The town needs to preserve the charm and be a bit more discerning of these requests .

Why don't we give people a chance to showcase these beautiful parts of our state... why be cynical and assume it will diminish it? Perhaps it will elevate. We all speak about how we support young people and want to help them along the way, but the first thing we do is throw down their efforts when they don't fit perfectly into our "utopia!"
Perhaps this individual could not share information about their show because it is of a proprietary nature. Shame on us "grownups" for assuming the worst. I personally can't wait to see what this young individualis creating. Hats off to the show and quite frankly shame on you for your comments!!!!
