Tisbury’s board of health is extending a pilot program that permits restaurants to apply for a variance allowing dogs to join their owners in outside seating areas.
Tisbury’s board of health is extending a pilot program that permits restaurants to apply for a variance allowing dogs to join their owners in outside seating areas.
Introduced in 2022, the variance is free to eateries that agree to town guidelines, including no storage of food or tableware in the dog-friendly area.
In a unanimous vote last week, the board of health agreed to extend the pilot through September 2025 before evaluating its success.

Betsy Burmeister West TisburyThat’s wonderful news. Years ago I was having lunch in Carmel by the Sea. There were dogs lying at their Guardians. They were very well behaved. I look forward to seeing more animal companions out at restaurants with their families.
