Winter baseball training is back to keep kids on the ball for when league play begins in the spring.

The Grand Slam Baseball Group MV will be hosting training/clinics beginning on Friday, Jan. 5 and running for six weeks at the West Tisbury School gym for ages four to twelve. Contact Ernie Chaves at [email protected] to register.

For older players, the Babe Ruth and high school training begins Monday, Jan. 22 with off-Island practices at the TJO facility in Falmouth. Expect to leave the Vineyard on the 3:45 boat and return on the 7:30 p.m. boat. Contact Jeff Day at [email protected] to register.

Big Thanks to all coaches and volunteers who help keep our Island kids engaged in recreation sports. I remember when Ennie Chaves opened on the weekends at WT school gym, a god send for parents on these dark winter days.
