German lieder is coming to a church near you as David Behnke and David Rhoderick perform a suite of songs from this genre, including Schumann’s masterpiece Liederkreis Op. 39, which sets to music 12 poems by Joseph von Eichendorff.

The Martha’s Vineyard Chamber Music Society show takes place on Sunday, Nov. 6 beginning at 3 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of West Tisbury. Along with Schumann, Haydn will be there, as will Mozart and Beethoven and Richard Strauss.

Mr. Rhoderick will be at the piano with Mr. Behnke singing a program of Lieder that spans the 19th century, including Beethoven’s An die ferne Geliebte.

The event teams brings the two Davids together again after last December’s powerful performance of Franz Schubert’s Winterreise (Winter Journey).

The suggested donation is $20. For tickets and information, visit mvcms.org.
