Edgartown Library Honors Herb Foster

The library is naming its boardroom for the late educator, author and library trustee, with a public dedication planned for Jan. 31.

The Edgartown Public Library will dedicate its board room in honor of the late Herb Foster on what would have been his 94th birthday, Jan. 31, at 3 p.m.

Mr. Foster, who died last February, had been a library trustee since 2006 and had taken out papers to run again, according to library director Lisa Sherman.

An announcement in the library newsletter called him "an unwavering champion of the library whose constant support and positivity left a lasting impression on the board, the staff, the Friends, and all who love the library."

The public dedication will be rescheduled for a later date if conditions require it to be canceled, according to the newsletter.

Herb contributed so much to this town’s library. It is nice to see him honored. He is missed.
