New Trail Opens Near Cedar Tree Neck

The Elinor Moore Irvin trail in West Tisbury crosses 110 wooded acres that Ms. Irvin donated to the Sheriff's Meadow Foundation.

The Sheriff's Meadow Foundation has announced the opening of a new trail in West Tisbury.

From a two-car trailhead off Indian Hill Road, immediately before Obed Daggett Road, the Elinor Moore Irvin trail crosses more than 110 acres of undulating, wooded land Ms. Irvin donated to the foundation, according to the announcement on the nonprofit's website and social media.

"For several years, (Sheriff's Meadow Foundation) has been working with Marie Vayo Greenbaum and Perry Vayo, Elinor’s niece and nephew, to create a trail that would satisfy their aunt’s desire that the land be used as a resource for scientific reflection and study," the announcement continues.

The new trailhead is just over a mile from the foundation's Cedar Tree Neck Sanctuary at the end of Obed Daggett Road. More foundation news is posted at sheriffsmeadow.org.
