Peaceful Transition

If only Man would give way/ as peacefully/ as night gives way to day.

If only Man would give way

as peacefully

as night gives way to day,

as graciously

as the tide kisses the island shore,

as quietly

as autumn leaves change color and fall.

Absent greed or grief

Nature accepts change

with grace.

Man, instead, grips

so tightly to what he holds

he breaks the very thing

he seeks to keep.

Oh neighbor, Oh friend –

Howl not!

The winds of change

mean you no harm.

Like the seasons, or the sun

or the breath in your body,

they simply mark time.

And yours has come.
