VTA Launches Micro Transit

Starting Monday, the Vineyard Transit Authority is piloting a new microtransit service for up-Island passengers, available seven days a week.

The Vineyard Transit Authority has added Island-wide microtransit service to the fixed-route bus schedule it continues to run through the winter season.

Operating seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. in areas previously served by bus routes 7, 8, 9 and 10 A,  and on Sundays in all parts of the Island except Chappaquiddick, the microtransit service is available to passengers whose origin and/or destination are beyond three-quarters of a mile away from a fixed route that the VTA is running on a given day.

Trips can be requested in advance by calling the VTA at 508-693-9440 and pressing 1. Same-day trips will be accommodated as space permits.

Details are posted on the VTA website.
