MVYouth has awarded $760,000 in college and workforce development scholarships to 13 high school seniors and young adults.
The community fund was founded in 2014 with a mission to provide money for Island organizations that serve children, teens and young adults, along with providing education scholarships.
MVYouth’s advisory boards narrowed a pool of 46 college applicants and 16 workforce development applicants.
The college scholarship winners are Peter Burke (Middlebury College), Imani Hall (Duke University), Jack Holmes (Brown University), Danielle Middleton (Howard University) Spencer Pogue (Columbia University), Alexandra Rego (Dartmouth College), and Zephrine Thompson (George Washington University).
The workforce development scholarship winners are Garrett Broadley (New England Institute of Technology), Kelly Cleary (Cape Cod Community College), Emmanuel DaSilva (Bristol Community College), Julia Gomes (New England Hair Academy), Jackson Pizzano (UMASS, Stockbridge), and Stephany Ribeiro (West New England University).
Since 2014, MVYouth has selected 50 students to receive college and workforce development scholarships. Recently, the organization pledged $500,000 to coronavirus relief efforts on the Island.
