A Night at the Derby Weigh Station

Stories are reeled in every day at derby headquarters at the foot of Main street on the Edgartown harbor. A Gazette video captures a night at the weigh station.

As the derby enters the final week all eyes are on the weigh station at the foot of Main street on the Edgartown harbor. Each morning and evening from 8 to 10, the fish are brought to the scales. Lines start forming well before the doors open, and stories of the big one caught and the ones that got away carry on throughout the day and night.

Here is a glimpse of the activity from one particular evening. But stories are reeled in every day, so head down to headquarters while there is still time. Fishing ends Saturday, Oct. 13 at 10 p.m., with the awards ceremony taking place Sunday, Oct. 14 at Farm Neck Golf Club beginning at 1 p.m.
