For the last 50 years I have been involved with Sunday Softball in Chilmark. Everyone plays. Having fun is the name of the game.

My wife of over 66 years died a month ago. Little did I know that my softball playmates would be my soul mates. Every other day one of these ball players would come to my house and console me about my loss. We would really get to know each other. They brought me gifts of books and booze to help me. No, they couldn’t fill the gap left by my dear wife Lydia, but they brought me friendship and helped to ease the pain. It was very special. I thank them one and all.
