Whaling Logs for Children

On Saturday, Dec. 12, the Martha’s Vineyard Museum is getting in the spirit of the new movie In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex, by offering a kids’ whaling workshop creating small paper journals with stamps and marbleized paper like whalers used to use. The event is in anticipation of the museum’s spring exhibit The Whalers. Presumably, since it is for kids, it has nothing to do with cannibalism — which was the fate of some on the Essex.

The workshop is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the museum, 59 School street, Edgartown. Visit mvmuseum.org.
