Registration is now open for Run for the Light, the third annual 10K road race to benefit the Gay Head Light.

The route starts under the lighthouse Sunday, Oct. 4 at 10 am. and proceeds in a loop along State Road and Moshup Trail back to the lighthouse.

To register for the race, visit gayheadlight.org or runsignup.com. The entry fee is $30 in advance and $50 the day of the race; the field is limited to 500 runners. The committee also welcomes donors at various levels of sponsorship; for more information contact Beverly Wright at [email protected].

A layer of competition has been added to the celebratory race: Aquinnah selectman Spencer Booker is challenging all other Island selectmen to run the race and see if they can beat him.
