Beers and Bikes

I was a bit surprised to read in the “on the rock” section of The Vine, the Wheel Happy ad encouraging bikers to participate in “Thirsty Thursday” bike and brew tour ($50) from Edgartown, along scenic State Beach to Offshore Ale Company in Oak Bluffs for some craft beer, then return to Edgartown, along scenic State Beach to Bad Martha Farmer’s Brewery for more craft beer. Really? And in August? Maybe it’s me, but it seems like common sense is on a permanent vacation.

I am the owner of Wheel Happy and wanted to give your reader's a response to the letter to the editor about the Bike & Beer Tour we are running through the summer. This is a tasting of beers at the two craft brewery's on the Island not a intoxicatied bike ride. It has been very well recievied by the patrons that have participate on this event. Like so many things we do at Wheel Happy like the Books for Bikes reading program, and the donated bike's for the kids fishing derby we are concerned about bicycle saftey. If any of your readers are concerned about this event please come on down to Wheel Happy so I can explain it to them. Like my parent's said never ASSUME.
