Penny and Gavin Franklin of West Tisbury announce the engagement of their daughter, Emily Lynn Franklin, to Dr. David Christopher Traficante, son of Eileen and the late Dr. Louis J. Traficante of Shohola, Pa.

The future bride graduated from Hartwick College with a bachelor of arts degree in business administration and received her bachelor of science degree in nursing from MGH Institute of Health Professions. She is employed as a registered nurse on the postpartum unit/critical care nursery at New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell.

Her fiancé graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry and pre-medicine and earned his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Medicine. He is a resident physician in emergency medicine at St Joseph’s Regional Trauma Center in Patterson, N.J.

An October 2015 wedding is planned on Martha’s Vineyard.
