Our president said we would put no boots (armed soldiers) on the ground, but a week later Gen. Martin Dempsey, who leads the U.S.A. military, said if American lives are in danger he would want to send soldiers to rescue them.
Adolf Hitler attacked the U.S.A.; the result is we became the most mighty military machine. We attacked Viet Nam but withdrew in defeat. We proclaimed victory over Iraq from a battleship; did we improve that country more than we hurt it?

Thanks to our "Military
Carla Cooper EdgartownThanks to our "Military Machine" you are still free to speak your mind, worship the God of your choice, peacefully assemble, and criticize the government. I shudder to think what the US and Europe would look like today without our "military Machine".
I may be mistaken but it was

No fan of Obama but his hesitancy to get our forces involved yet again in the Islamic soup of the Middle East is well-founded.

William T. Langley Charlestown, RIWe need a strong, well equipped military for DEFENSE in a hostile world, not for nation building outside our borders. The fact that Obama is now taking cues from George W. Bush's playbook is incredibly ironic.
