Amy Bates, one of 21 master’s candidates of the University of Chicago’s Urban Teacher Education Program, recently presented her work on valuing student voice and how language can serve as a point of social justice. She hopes to teach in the Chicago Public Schools this fall. Amy is the daughter of Ellie and Gordon Bates of Edgartown.
