An interfaith healing service is planned for Wednesday night for members of two well-known Island families who were injured in a car accident in Virginia Sunday.

Laurel Redington, her husband Ray Whitaker, their daughter Tessa and friend Ellie Hanjian were traveling home from spring vacation early Sunday morning when the accident occurred on the interstate near Richmond, Va. Ms. Redington, Mr. Whitaker and Ellie Hanjian, 14, all received injuries and were hospitalized. Ellie was injured critically and is recovering, family members said. Ellie is the daughter of Adam Hanjian and Mary Holmes of Oak Bluffs, sister of Robert Hanjian and granddaughter of Armen and Vicky Hanjian of Vineyard Haven.

Friends and family rallied throughout the week with faith gatherings and prayers.

The interfaith healing service will be held Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. at the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center in Vineyard Haven. The Rev. Cathlin Baker of the West Tisbury Congregational Church and Rabbi Caryn Broitman will preside over the service.

All are welcome.
