Stop the Spraying

The following letter was sent to NStar: I just recently heard that the public has until Jan. 15 to write to you in protest the spraying of herbicides on Martha’s Vineyard to save your company the expense of trimming plants by hand. How absurd!

Please be advised that I am among many who are greatly concerned by this practice on Martha’s Vineyard particularly in view of the Island Grown Initiative who is supplying our schools with fresh produce for our children to eat every day for lunch. How absurd!

What is most distressing, is that everyone knows what the repercussions are and you have chosen to go ahead with this very dangerous practice despite the empirical data and solidly proven facts that it is extremely dangerous for the health and welfare of humans and animals alike.

Please stop immediately!

Thanking you in advance for your consideration.

I came back to my vacation home in utter disbelief. Over half of my front entry landscaping died off and I am concerned the other impacts that this may have. If its deadly to plants, I am sure that this is unhealthy for us as well. I am in support of using volunteerism in order to maintain the community.
