I always look forward to Mollie Doyle’s Gazette series, A Day in the Life. The pieces are invariably well written and interesting, but this week’s report on our Island saint, Bridget Tobin, actually made me weepy.
I always look forward to Mollie Doyle’s Gazette series, A Day in the Life. The pieces are invariably well written and interesting, but this week’s report on our Island saint, Bridget Tobin, actually made me weepy. What a lovely, deeply touching portrait of this remarkable woman who keeps us all coming . . . and going . . . no matter what. Ms. Doyle captures her essence, her pace, her humanity and her infinite charm in this wonderful essay I could not put down.
Thank you both for adding so much to my life, on-Island and off.

If you came to the Vineyard
Thomas Hodgson wtIf you came to the Vineyard on the Tuesday noon boat from Woods Hole, you may have noticed that as soon as the ferry left the slip, it came back, briefly touched back at the dock, and then left again. I happened to be on the freight deck, watching as the door was reopened, and then an item passed from a hand landside to a hand ferryside.
What was it?
A credit card that a passenger had left in the ticket office.
Every SSA person involved in that act of kindness deserves a pat on the back.
Or a big hug, if you're that sort of person.
