If anyone has wondered lately when President Kennedy was last in Vineyard waters, our family can report we happened to be in a boat in Edgartown on Labor Day weekend 1963 when the Honey Fitz appeared. Small official boats kept others at a distance. My husband’s Minox camera took photos we know showed JFK on the bow, but they’re too small to be good evidence. Nevertheless, many will recall the President and Jackie had lost a third child, Patrick, just a few days old in August, so they were surely trying to relax on the Cape a bit at that time.
