Seaman Recruit Christopher Manning graduated second in his class from Basic Enlisted Submarine School in Groton, Conn. on May 31. He was meritoriously advanced at the ceremony from E1 to E2 based on his GPA standing.

Christopher is a 2007 graduate of Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School. He is the son of Paul Manning and his wife, Theresa, of Aquinnah, and Angela Carroll Atkins of Franklin, Ky. He is also the brother of Noah Manning of Aquinnah and Kayla Manning of Franklin, Ky., and grandson of June Manning of Aquinnah. Chris will spend the next two months in Groton, completing two additional training schools.
