The Tisbury board of selectmen will meet with producers and staff for the ABC reality show The Vineyard at their next meeting on May 7. At Tuesday’s meeting, town administrator Jay Grande said he and a group including selectman Jeffrey Kristal and the town’s harbor master, police chief, department of public works chief and Steamship Authority representative spoke with producer David Broome via conference call about general plans for proposed filming.

Filming will begin May 9 at the Steamship Authority, Mr. Grande said, and many of the shoots will take place in Tisbury. Mr. Grande said there will be eight to 10 cast members on the show, and that two will be employees at the Black Dog Tavern.

“Each of the [eight] episodes will result in about five shoots, out on the streets and various properties throughout town,” he said. “Some will take place on water.”

The conversation was “very helpful,” Mr. Kristal said. “I don’t think the concerns are huge for us; I think it’s going to fit right in. . . . they said they’d be willing to work with us.”

At the May 7 meeting, the board will discuss matters such as being compensated for possible use of town resources and manpower, such as cleanup crews and police detail.

“We need to make sure we have proper timing and that our police department knows what’s going on,” selectmen chairman Tristan Israel said.

Mr. Grande said the crews were working on private parking spots at the tavern, and that they were aware that Beach street extension is a fire lane.

Department of Public Works director Fred LaPiana said he had briefed the producers on the low-lying area where the Black Dog Tavern is situated.

“They could be underwater if there’s a heavy storm swell,” he said.
